There is no doubt - humans have had immeasurable impact on the environment.
In this current age of human influence, coined the Anthropocene, coastal and marine habitats are under
immense pressure from physical and chemical stressors. In our lab, we are focused on understanding the
plastic-derived pollutants that threaten the aquatic species and habitats that we all depend upon.
We use principles of chemistry to predict pollutant fate and transformation in aquatic systems.
We measure the impact that pollutants have on species, communities & ecosystems.
We advance chemical technologies in the lab to expand our understanding of pollutants in the environment.
Our lab addresses multiple pollutant types.
We primarily focus on plastic pollution - from mega to nano -
and the chemicals associated with plastics.
